Australia Post & Timor
Meanwhile, we have more than 200, still it is nice to have a new stamp editing country.
On May 20, East Timor edited its first stamps. The date was not chosen by accident: on that same day, the UN hands over all the responsibilities belonging to independence. In other words: from May 20, East Timor is an autonomous country. East Timor got immediately pampered: the Australian postal services pays for the production of the first stamps. Who would think that Australia Post has become a charitable institution is wrong; the Aussies also take care of the marketing and distribution of the East Timorese stamps.
The first series of East Timorese stamps consists of four stamps, worth 25c., 50c.,$1 and $2. We depict one of the four.
